A NEW SOUND

Hey yall:

Again its been a minute. By now, I'm sure you're all used to me falling off the grid every now and again....lol.

The last couple of weeks, I've had a lot on my mind but very little down time to actually sit down and type it up. The opportunity is finally here so here goes:

Last night I got the opportunity to sit in a very encouraging meeting with some of the most amazing worship leaders I know - musicians and singers alike. I was so honored to have been invited and given the opportunity to give my two cents on the issues we discussed. Even more than honored, I was so encouraged by the discussion, it got me thinking of what the future of worship looks like.

A general theme of last night's meeting was "A NEW SOUND". This new sound that we all agree is resounding around the earth in light of Christ's return. An interesting part of this whole thing is the awareness that today's church systems seem so unfamiliar with this sound. So much so that it seems very foreign in our churches, services, conferences, it even makes people uncomfortable. When we encounter worship we are like "woahhh.....what was that?! It was sooo refreshing!!" and we are right, it is refreshing. Its always refreshing when we hear this sound that reminds us of what is truly important - RELATIONSHIP not religion, GOD not self.

That aside, I'm more burdened by my new found awareness of the ministry of worship and the responsibilities of the worship leader. The worship leader is generally one of the first people who should be attentive enough to Heaven. I guess the message is for all us who are called to be the Levites in the Body of Christ. We are the ones called to hear this sound and deliver it undiluted to God's people.

Here's my conclusion: This new sound is the future of worship. Its a sound that turns back the heart of the son to the Father. Its a sound that refreshes our memory of the importance of relationship. Its a sound that keeps us thinking and yearning to live a life of true worship (i.e Obedience to God's Word).

As I write this, I'm compelled to rethink my sound, to reassess and ensure that its the sound of Heaven not pop culture Christianity.

I pray we all do thesame to ensure we are feeding His sheep not just entertaining them.

THE GLORY OF GOD

Hey guys!

So sorry this is kinda late today. I intended on posting much earlier in the morning but then I got distracted by work...lolol....

I wanted to share a dream I had last night with y'all....

So in this dream, myself and a friend went on some kind of vacation. For some reason, we were looking at apartment homes. This one home we were looking at had the most beautiful outlook. It was decorated very beautifully and had tall elegant ceilings. It was on the second floor of what seemed to be the tallest three story building ever and the complex was a highly secure gated community. All in all, the specifics of the place was just absolutely heavenly except for one thing.

.....In the top left corner of the bathroom ceiling was a colony of humongous rabid bats... Seeing them, I was very startled, a little disgusted and all in all very uncomfortable.

I asked the leasing agent what they were and he said "oh those are the bats....they live here" and then he proceeded to just show off the rest of the house as though the bats were not an issue. The whole thing was just very odd.

Well you know, I woke up and all I could think of was the phrase "And the whole earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord..." (Habakkuk 2:14)

How similar is the picture of that house to most of our lives. We look beautiful on the outside - full of promise and heavily decorated with accolades, achievements etc but in the corner somewhere is something dark and disturbing. Something of an eyesore yet, we walk about and carry on as though there was nothing wrong with the very wrong things that are in us.

I believe God's desire is to fill us completely with HIS glory...not the glory of the world or the human idea of "glory" but HIS true glory. He desires to saturate us through and through with ALL of Himself so that we look, act, smell, talk, walk and become more like Him than our surroundings BUT this only happens when we are honest enough with ourselves to admit that there is something wrong, that there are bats in our house, that we aren't as perfect as we want others (or even ourselves) to believe.

I'm sorry y'all today is very reflectionary (I just made up this word) for me. I'm really bothered by the bats in my house....I need them cleaned out IMMEDIATELY....life is just TOO short to play anymore games.

Sincerely Burdened

Being An Artiste is VERY hard

Come to think of it, being a human being is hard....lolol. I'll tell you why I say this.

Just yesterday, I went in to the studio and found a surprise guest visitor - one of my most preferred keyboard players! He was there..........listening to my song and trying to get ideas for what to play on it. First of all, let me just say WHAT AN AMAZING HONOR......i didn't even know he would be coming through.

But something wonderful happened as we sat there through MANY different takes (brain storming on what would possibly sound nice, what wouldn't, what highs and lows to use), I realised how time flew by unnoticed and the productivity that happened was absolutely amazing! All in all, it was an awesome session.

Well, I went home and began to think of how hard it is to juggle what you think is right and being humble enough to listen to other people's opinions. It seems to be the HARDEST line to straddle mainly because listening is mostly good...however, its tedious! and if you are listening to the wrong opinions, its even worse - Time consuming and Time Wasting!

It got me thinking of life in general and the voices we listen to......Once again, it summed up my whole life's argument - Human beings are LIMITED in every way but thank God for the Spirit. He does not consume or waste time....He doesn't lead us into a ditch. He guides us into the very places we NEED to go and leads us into ALL truth. His is the only voice we can trust.

Today as I sit at work, Im thankful that He's been directing this project and leading me to people with VALUABLE insights. He's ordered my every step and Im glad for what Im learning and experiencing through these times....ALL the musicians Ive gotten to work with are absolutely top notch and by God, Ive scaled through many walls BUT i need to learn to listen more - not to the voices of reason but to THE VOICE of the Spirit.

Yall have a fab day and practice listening...

The Songs I write....

So as I mentioned earlier, I'm working on a CD project. Anticipating the release of my first single "Calling" in the next few weeks.

Ive had a few questions as far as the whole album goes and thought I would "officially" share an overview of the project. So here goes:

In 2009, I went through a time of 'solitude' with the Holy Spirit. I basically was dealing with a number of things that made me very cold and somewhat internally dead toward the religious systems around me and all its demands. My only saving grace really was the presence of God. It was a tangible and memorable experience. It was in those times that I began to understand the heart of God and the plight of the average Christian.

I believe that people desire to worship God but are quickly caught up in many cares of religion. We sometimes get so entangled in our religious operations that we loose sight of Christ and His desire for relationship with us. I believe there's so much that a relationship with Christ equips us for that we miss when we are entangled in the bondage of religion.

The single "Calling" stems from Matthew 14:28-39. Its the story of Jesus walking on the water. Peter sees Him and says "Lord, if its really you, tell me to come to you, walking on water." and Jesus says to him "Come" and Peter does what none of the other disciples ever did. He steps out of the boat and walks on water!

That was so profound for me because I feel that everyday. Everyday, Christ is calling us to do the very things we see Him do (the things that seem impossible).

He's calling us to heal the sick, raise the dead, open blind eyes and even be vessels through which the human existence is transformed. Our ability to hear Him calling us out is so important but even more important is our willingness to trust Him enough and step out. It is in stepping out that we find Him more personally being more than able to save, deliver, help, hold, comfort, direct, lead and empower us and this discovery is what sets us FREE TO WORSHIP the true and living God.

Root Scriptures:
Galatians 5:1, Matthew 14:28-39

I truly cant wait to share this project with you guys and get your reviews.

Excited!
